PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THIS COOKIE POLICY BEFORE USING THE SERVICES

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy (“Policy”) applies to Gataca Labs S.L.U. and to our controlled affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively referred to as “Gataca”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is a cybersecurity company incorporated under the laws of Spain that provides decentralized digital identity technology. This Policy applies to our websites, Gataca Studio, Gataca Vouch, Gataca Wallet, and our other products and services available directly to consumers (collectively, the “Services”) provided by Gataca and defined in each applicable terms of service.

In this Cookie Policy, we explain what cookies and similar technologies are, how we use them in our capacity as “data controller,” and your choices.

We use cookies, web beacons, mobile analytics and advertising IDs, and similar technologies to operate our websites and online services and to help collect data, including usage data and identifiers and device information. For more information about how Gataca handles personal data in our capacity as “data controller,” please see our Privacy Policy.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed by a website and stored by your browser on your device (such as your mobile, computer or tablet). A cookie can later be read when your browser connects to a web server in the same domain that placed the cookie. The text in a cookie contains a string of numbers and letters that may uniquely identify your device and can contain other information as well. This allows the web server to recognize your browser over time, each time it connects to that web server.

Web beacons (also called clear GIFs or pixels) are electronic images that are contained within a website or email. When your browser opens a webpage or email that contains a web beacon, it automatically connects to the web server that hosts the image (typically operated by a third party). This allows that web server to log information about your device and to set and read its own cookies. In the same way, third-party content on our websites (such as embedded videos, plug-ins, or ads) results in your browser connecting to the third-party web server that hosts that content. We also include web beacons in our email messages or newsletters to tell us if you open and act on them.

Mobile analytics and advertising IDs are generated by operating systems for mobile devices (iOS and Android) and can be accessed and used by apps in much the same way that websites access and use cookies. Our Services contain software that enables us and our third-party analytics and advertising partners to access these mobile IDs.

3. How do we and our partners use cookies and similar technologies?

We use cookies and similar technologies in three ways, according to their purpose:

  • Necessary functional: Necessary cookies help make a website usable by enabling basic functions like page navigation and access to secure areas of the website. The website cannot function properly without these cookies.
  • Analytics: These are used for analytic purposes to understand how users interact with our Services, and to improve Services.
  • Advertising: These allow the management of the advertising spaces that have been included on the Services.
  • Preference: Preference cookies enable a website to remember information that changes the way the website behaves or looks, like your preferred language or the region that you are in.

More specifically, we, and our partners, use these technologies in our websites, apps, and online services to collect personal data (such as the pages you visit, the links you click on, and similar usage information, identifiers, and device information) when you use our Services. This data is used to store your preferences and settings, enable you to sign-in, analyze how our websites and apps perform, track your interaction with the site or app, develop inferences, deliver and tailor interest-based advertising, combat fraud, and fulfill other legitimate purposes.

For example, we use Google Analytics on our website to help us understand how users interact with our website; we use Hubspot to collect and manage corporate customer contact details and to manage our marketing database, send marketing emails and receive your inquiries through our contact forms; we use Twak to manage and respond to your Service support queries; and we use Stripe to process payment transactions.
